These Anti-Skinny Jeans Are Officially 2021's Must-Try Pants

A few weeks ago I hopped on a Zoom with Sofia and Nicole Richie to talk about their new collaboration for Nicole's line House of Harlow 1960. The sisters are known for their individual senses of style, but something Sofia said during our chat has stuck with me since — over the last year she's cleared out her closet because pre-pandemic she was "doing too much." As we all navigate our return to life after sweatpants, how do we strike a balance between our former formal selves and our new relaxed ones?

I think the solution lies in trends like baggy jeans which are a definite step up from sweatpants but still manage to offer some comfort. I know as I look for new pieces to shop, I'm thinking more about the utility new items add — it's less about a flash-in-the-pan trend and more about leaning into my personal style and playing with pieces in imaginative ways (like mixing bold separates together in unexpected ways). My 2021 mantra is to do just enough — have fun with fashion again, but embrace the comfort this new era has brought me.
