Issue 165 - 0-60 in 1.1s

Roadster

Space X Tesla Roadster's from 0 to 60 in 1.1 seconds 📷
We learned this from the plaque at the Petersen Automotive Museum, where the Roadster will be exhibited until June 2nd. We knew it was going to be fast, but it is just mind-blowing 🤯🤯🤯

Beautiful pictures, and that red, OMG!

Production Tesla Roadster will look better
I don't know how this car can look even better, but that is what Elon said. Now, I just need to find a way of paying for it and I will be all set!

EV charging

Which US States have the most EV charging stations per vehicle?
In absolute numbers, California is first with nearly 37,000 units, but if we talk about the highest number per electric vehicle, the winning state is Vermont with 725 per 1,000 EVs.

Model S

Tesla Model S Plaid delivery event, June 3 at our California factory
The first Model S Plaid cars will be going to owners as soon as June 3rd and, to celebrate it, Tesla is doing a delivery event on June 3 in Fremont. If you happen to be one of the people invited to the event and want to bring me with you ... I won't say no 😉

Tesla Model S matches gas cars by going at 320 mi at average speeds of 75 mph
Car and Driver recently conducted a highway fuel economy test run on the “Raven” Tesla Model S Long Range Plus. In the test, the car achieved 320 real miles at 75 mph, the best result of any EV yet. When we got out Model S over 3 years ago, the range was a bit over half of what is offered today, it is incredible how quickly EVs are improving, amazing!

“going to plaid” animation? 📹
Thanks, Trevor, for publishing this. We, in fact, saw that when they first introduced the new Roadster and gave folks test rides.

Autopilot & FSD

Hidden Tesla detections 📹
Greentheonly, of course, reporting some new hidden detections. In the video, we can see how AP detects and correctly tags the Tesla Model S and, for a fraction of a second, its color. In the past, Elon has said that they will be rendering other Tesla's differently on the screen and maybe even doing a game, Pokemon style, to collect the different ones that you see.

Transitioning to Tesla Vision
We knew Tesla was ditching radar in their rewrite of FSD Beta but we didn't anticipate them removing it from cars as early as this month. In this support article, Tesla announced "Beginning with deliveries in May 2021, Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for the North American market will no longer be equipped with radar. Instead, these will be the first Tesla vehicles to rely on camera vision and neural net processing to deliver Autopilot".

The downside? New cars will have a limited version of AP at first, Autosteer will be limited to a maximum speed of 75 mph, and Smart Summon and  Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance may be disabled at delivery.

💡 Tip of the week
Drag the 'Navigate' box down or right: The car will automatically start the navigation to home. If you're at home, it takes you to work.

🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • AP - Autopilot
  • EV - Electric Vehicle
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
  • mph - Miles per hour
