IWillTeachYouToBeRich - Graduation advice from IWT

Reader,

The IWT team had some exciting news last week. Our team member Sydney Jones graduated from college!

Two things. First, I’m always amazed at the great advice that comes from the IWT team. Here are just a few examples:

How about you? What’s your best advice for graduates?

Second, Sydney is a perfect example of someone who tried a few things out before finding her Dream Job.

When she started college, Sydney had plans to earn a bachelor's degree in statistics, get a Ph.D., and be a college professor. But she quickly realized that the professor life did not appeal to her. At all. “Most professors were in their offices by 8 and working until 5 … and answering emails from students on nights and weekends,” she said.

Sydney still loved math, so she looked at other options. “I realized what I wanted out of my career — and life — was flexibility and control.”

That’s when she started to read I Will Teach You to Be Rich (which makes a great graduation present, by the way). She started applying the lessons. I’ll let Sydney tell the rest of the story:

I loved the message of conscious spending, and automating your finances, and the IWT system worked better for me than any other “budgeting” system I had tried.

I was a big fan and followed IWT on everything. When I saw there was a job opening for a Marketing Assistant (no experience required) I jumped on it, and was picked out of hundreds of applicants! It was my lucky break — I truly found my Dream Job.

I’ve advanced to Marketing Specialist and manage our social media program as well as new content creation on the blog. I have the flexibility and control I wanted, and the work is interesting and challenging. I love my team and I’m excited to come to work every day. I plan to stay here as long as they’ll let me!

I’m proud to be part of Sydney’s
financial and career journey

I LOVE IT!

You do the challenging work of self-discovery, testing, and yes, even failure, to discover your Dream Job.

That’s exactly what Sydney did — even while she was still in college. It’s set her up for the rest of her life. Now, even if she decides to move on from marketing or IWT, she has the blueprint she needs to find her next Dream Job.

In the spirit of graduation, I’m opening up my course, Find Your Dream Job, until tomorrow at 11:59pm. It’s my complete system for defining and getting your Dream Job, just like Sydney did. This course would also make a great graduation gift — if you’d like to gift it to a recent grad, email our support team at support@iwt.com for more details.

Congratulations, Sydney, and congratulations to all 2021 graduates!

P.S. Sydney referenced my concept of “Pivotal Moments.” We’re at another pivotal moment as people are getting vaccinated and everything is opening back up. It’s a great time to reconsider how you use your money, and how you’re going to spend it going forward.

The New York Times last week looked at exactly that topic, and they included some of my advice on spending well (in addition to saving) in order to live a Rich Life.

How are you planning to use your money in the coming months?
