  Vehicle location data is woefully underprotected. Otonomo is one company that collects and sells location data, installed in 40M+ vehicles worldwide.

  Mass data collection is not just about targeted ads. "We’re talking about subliminal cues, psychological microtargeting, real time rewards and punishments, algorithmic recommendation tools and engineered social comparison dynamics."
• As Ad Tech Firms Test Ways to Connect Google's FLoC to Other Data, Privacy Watchers See Fears Coming True [digiday.com]
  When FLoC, Google's new tracking method within Chrome, was released, we predicted ad tech companies would combine it with other types of personal info to identify users. You guessed it – it's happening. When it comes to protecting privacy, FLoC is a flop.
• EU's AI Law Needs Major Changes to Prevent Discrimination and Mass Surveillance [edri.org]
  While the EC's proposed regulation for AI is a welcome step, EDRI has identified areas that still need addressing, such as:
  • Wide exceptions that are "ripe for abuse"
  • Underestimating the extent of discrimination
  • No recourse for those harmed by AI
