IWillTeachYouToBeRich - What do wealthy people do differently?

Hey Reader,

The wealthy behave in curious ways.

Here are a couple recent examples:

Alexandre de Betak is a world-famous fashion show designer. But his passion outside of work is designing homes for his family. A few years ago, he finished a design for a loft in New York … complete with a hidden party room.

Recently, he finished remodeling a 17th century hôtel particulier in Paris. He combined four separate units on three floors in order to create another dream home. This home also includes a basement nightclub, featuring a night-sky mural that includes star maps of each family member’s zodiac constellation.

What!?

Or have you heard about the ultra-wealthy creating custom Rolls-Royces … for more than $13 million? For that price, they’re able to work start to finish, from design to clay model to finished product, to create a car customized exactly for them.

One guy worked with Swiss watchmaker BOVET 1822 to develop a custom watch that would fit in a customized housing on the dashboard that prevented interference from vibrations or the car’s antenna.

Another owner created a customized fridge that automatically cooled the owner’s champagne to the preferred temperature … in exactly the amount of time it took for the car to arrive at the place he likes to drink it.

These are great examples of how the wealthy use their money to create custom experiences tailored to them. They go beyond "just" buying a multimillion-dollar home in the Hamptons or a Ferrari and build something exactly for them.

Here’s another favorite example of mine — but this time, from the dark side.

This guy left a comment asking for advice on his spending. He listed all his financials, openly showing his income ($205,000/year working as a consultant), and he posted in a forum for consultants, asking for advice.

Now, in a consulting forum where many consultants earn a lot of money, you’d think this would be a simple question.

NOPE!

Here come the pitchforks…

"Jesus Christ, dude”

"Your budget is a bullshit guess"

"You need to change your perspective"

Ugh.

No wonder wealthy people hate talking about how they really spend their money. America loves the idea of the wealthy — but they hate hearing about real numbers and real spending.

It’s easy to scoff. But I’ve found it’s a lot more fun — and profitable — to be curious about the wealthy.

(BTW, we also hear a lot about systemic inequality and billionaires evading their taxes. Those are legitimate problems, but my focus with IWT is helping you live a Rich Life. In other words, when someone talks about billionaires’ low tax bills, my response is: “I agree that’s a problem. Let’s focus on your own finances: Have you maxed out your 401(k)?”)

Where do you go if you actually want to understand how the wealthy think?

Or how to create real, sustainable wealth?

Not really. Until now. Keep reading…

In America, the only discussions allowed about money are FRUGALITY and GUILT.

Our favorite thing is to see someone become incredibly wealthy...

...but spend like they have no money.

Like Warren Buffett, billionaire investor, who still lives in his 1958 house in Omaha. (We'll just ignore the fact that he has a private jet.)

Or the millionaire who still flies economy. How down to earth! (We'll just ignore his $9,000 suit.)

People love to quote The Millionaire Next Door, which showed how surprisingly modest millionaires truly are (for example, they tend to drive older cars).

That was great, but people twisted the findings to support their worldview — the one that says the most virtuous people are multi-millionaires who choose to live like they’re poor.

Guys, your neighborhood millionaire is not living like a pauper, eating rice and beans and hoarding 95% of their income for some far-off day in retirement. Don’t lie to yourself.

No, most millionaires don’t walk around wearing chinchilla coats. But they're also not only wearing cheap pants and eating at Chili's.

“Money changes people...”
OF COURSE IT DOES

Does money change people? YES. AND IT SHOULD!

The truth is, money enables you to live a Rich Life — one that’s bigger than you ever dreamed.

Instead of judging the wealthy, it’s far more productive to ask: What do they DO differently? What do they spend on? And, most important of all, how do they think differently?

So that's exactly what I did.

  1. First, I started at the heart of the matter — identifying and overcoming invisible money scripts. You can't be successful if your "financial programming" is sabotaging you every step of the way.

  2. Then I expanded into more advanced topics on how the wealthy think. How do they build their wealth, how do they make money decisions, and how do they think about spending money without all the guilt and baggage and confusion that plagues most people?

  3. And finally, I put it into action to design a Rich Life.

Now, I want to share all of it with you.

Back in 2009, when I wrote the first edition of my book, I forgot to include details about psychology. I provided tons of tactics, but what I discovered was that until you master the deep money psychology, the tactics won't help.

Since then, I’ve updated my book with psychology and invisible scripts about money. And I've started talking about these taboo topics. Like prenups, which I discussed on the Tim Ferriss podcast. I want to shine a light on these secretive topics. (Maybe you'll get a prenup, maybe not — that's not the point. What's important is that we should talk about these things out loud.)

Today, I want to go even further.

I want to take you into the world of the wealthy. I want to peel back the veil and talk about things wealthy people won't talk about publicly. How they think about spending. Specific examples of abundance. Where they spend their time.

I want to share everything I've learned about unlocking your financial potential and building your own Rich Life.

I’ve packaged everything I've learned into my Wealth Triggers program.

I’m going to show you the hidden psychology of the wealthy, including how they think about money, how they treat it differently than everyone else, and how they use their money, including the juicy examples you rarely hear about in public — so you can apply new ways of thinking and treating your own money.

If you’ve ever wondered how to apply the mindsets of the wealthy to your own money — and watch it grow — this program will show you how.

No more anxiety around money.

No more fear.

And no more “playing small.”

Plus, I really want to show you what the wealthy actually spend their money on (and why). It will blow your mind.

If you're ready to crack the mental blocks that have been holding you back financially and replace them with proven, powerful frameworks that the wealthy use every day, then Wealth Triggers is for you.

Best of all, Wealth Triggers gives you this mental transformation fast — in less than 30 days.

I distilled each trigger down into a short video and paired it with crisp examples. I recommend you watch one per day — easy to absorb during your morning commute or while you’re getting ready for bed.

Here's a sneak peek at what's included (full details here):

  1. Your financial programming
  2. Rewiring your old stories into new ones
  3. What abundance really means
  4. How to handle financial bullies, skeptics, doubters, and cynics
  5. What the wealthy do differently
  6. Using money to solve problems
  7. How to buy anything, guilt-free
  8. The psychology behind "outrageous" purchases
  9. Why it's OK to "waste" money
  10. How the wealthy make money decisions
  11. How to build wealth for life
  12. How I made my money: Mapping out your income streams
  13. Fun money: The coolest things to do with your money
