We'll be back next week with a new read, but in the meantime, here's a look back at the most popular stories of 2021 (so far), as well as more info on the Review's new look (and membership experience!).

As we near July 2021, we're rapidly approaching the year's halfway checkpoint. It's a chance to take stock of progress, revisit goals, and give ourselves the (gentle) reminders we'll need as we tackle the months to come.

To help with that work, we've rounded up the startup stories that have resonated most with our readers in the last six months. As you recommit to the aspirations you set back in January, give them a read (or a re-read). We hope this collection of popular advice will serve as a timely reminder and a fresh perspective that will help deepen your well of motivation for the back half of the year.

Below, you'll find a collection of small habits for managers to incorporate into their routines, practical pointers for truly centering self-care, advice for joining a startup for the first time, and a case for paying more attention to your company's systems.

Here's to finishing out 2021 strong.

Check out the First Round Review Membership 👀

While we have you here, you might have noticed these past few months that The Review’s gotten a fresh coat of paint. We've been quietly testing some new ideas, giving the homepage a new look and feel, and introducing Collections to better surface advice from our archive of almost 500 articles, from finding product/market fit, to advice for performance reviews.

From a podcast player that follows you around as you browse through articles, to table of contents navigation that enables you to move through longer stories more easily, there are plenty of fun new features and under-the-hood changes meant to create a more seamless, powerful reading experience.

But here’s the change we’re most excited about — we’ve launched a free membership program, rolling out a new way to tap into all of the company-building advice we’ve shared since we first started writing in 2013.

Members can log in easily — without the trouble of creating accounts or remembering pesky passwords. As a member with unlimited access to all The Review has to offer, you can:

  • Read without distraction. Once you’re signed in, you can access everything in our archives without running into any pop-ups or gated articles.
  • Receive every edition of our weekly(ish) newsletter, just like this one, plus access to every back issue here.
  • Save articles with the new Reading List feature. Now, if there's a long-form profile you’d like to finish reading later, or a favorite article you'd like to return to over and over again, you can easily save it to your account.
  • Tap into our new Resource Center. We combed The Review archives to pull together all the templates, frameworks, must-ask questions, decks, and videos that we’ve ever published — and some you’ve never seen before. From all the interview questions we've ever published, to the board deck template we share with companies we've backed, there's tons of valuable resources.

The good news? If you’re receiving this message, you’re already subscribed to The Review newsletter, so you’re in! Just enter your email here to confirm your account and get started immediately. Later, if you're logged out of your account, we'll help you sign in again easily.
