NEW! We want your stories! Contribute to Makerpad

We're excited to share for the first time our new Contribute page (kudos to Ben for putting this together).

We're making it our mission to share all the awesome things our community is doing without code, and this brings us a little closer to achieving that mission.

If you have a story to tell, we want to hear it.

If you're launching a business or side-project, share what you're building through us and make our audience your audience.

Here's the page for anyone interested.

🤲 On the blog: How no-code helped a product manager pivot into holistic healing

Katie Hill is a low-coder-turned no-coder and Digital Product Manager from Oregon USA.

After the pandemic hit, she came up with the idea to build a holistic healing community platform — a project that would combine her skills in digital marketing with her passion for holistic health.

Katie suffered from a mystery illness for 3 years when she was just out of college. After getting fed up with no diagnosis from multiple doctors, she finally went to see a naturopath. She was diagnosed within a week and after some dietary and lifestyle changes, was back to her healthy self.

That changed her whole perspective on healthcare. And ever since, she's felt the call to spread the word about alternative, root-cause healing, and to promote and facilitate connections with amazing holistic providers.

Choosing the no-code path

Katie took part in an entrepreneur bootcamp that resulted in a business plan and pitch deck. However, she was faced with the question of how to build her idea on a bootstrap budget.

She came across Makerpad’s No-Code Fundamentals course, and although she'd never heard “no-code” before, she took a leap of faith and dived in.

Through the course, Katie started building a platform that would include a provider directory, resources and information on modalities, a marketplace for providers to sell their products, and community spaces for providers to collaborate and patients to meet others with similar conditions.

It's free to search the platform's directory, resources, and marketplace, but Katie plans to add a membership for additional community features.

Softr, Airtable, and the “build fast, build often” approach

Katie had originally planned on using Webflow, Airtable and Jetboost for the build, but one of the valuable lessons she learned from the course was to "build fast, build often".

So she switched gears and tried Softr + Airtable — and she's very glad she followed the urge to pivot!

She built and iterated and built, and Katie says she's happy with the way Village Health turned out, especially with only a handful of days to build.

She was able to build out a directory, modality resource list, subscription plans, and a member dashboard. She plans to add more community features in the near future.

Read Katie's full story here.
