In one word, Q2 was BONKERS, with record numbers of unicorns, funding, valuations, fintech funding, etc.

Here are some highlights with accompanying graphs:

Unicorn births are up almost 500%. Seriously, if you raise now and are not a unicorn, it’s almost odd.

The median US Series A valuation was $42M. If you are a disciplined investor (or fancy yourself as one), you are not getting into any hot deals. In other words, to be in it to win it, goodbye price discipline.

Part of the breakneck pace for venture has been caused by crossover investors like Tiger Global, which did 1.26 deals per business day in Q2. The pace at which it's putting $ to work hasn’t been seen before, and everyone has to play the game with these new rules.

$1 of every $5 in venture went to fintech. There is no hotter sector in technology right now. The level of incumbent disruption that will happen in the next 10 years will be gargantuan.

And finally, China slowed down while India and Europe heated up. LatAm, in particular, is absolutely on fire.
