2021 University & College Poetry Prizes

We’re thrilled to announce the winners of the 2021 University & College Poetry Prizes. Established in 1955, the Academy sponsors over two hundred annual poetry prizes at colleges and universities across the country. Read this year’s winning poems here

Deuda Natal Virtual Book Celebration

Join the Academy of American Poets and University of Arizona Press for the virtual book celebration of Deuda Natal by Mara Pastor, winner of the 2020 Ambroggio Prize. The event will include translators Maria José Giménez and Anna Rosenwong in conversation with Nicole Cecilia Delgado. Thursday, September 9, at 5:30 pm EDT/ 2:30 pm PDT. Free with registration. Accepting Submissions for 2022 First Book Award

There is still time to submit to the 2022 Academy of American Poets First Book Award, the nation’s most generous first-book prize for poetry, judged by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Tyehimba Jess. The winner will receive $5,000 and their manuscript will be published by Graywolf Press in 2023. Submissions will be accepted online between August 1 and October 1, 2021, and the recipient will be announced in April 2022 during National Poetry Month.

Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of English to teach six courses per year. 

The Oxford American is seeking a full-time Digital Editor to oversee the digital production calendar, manage oxfordamerican.org, among other responsibilities. 

The Whiting Foundation in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to offer support with grant-making and social media presence.
