Special event: Alexander Vindman on exposing Trump’s infamous phone call to Ukraine

The retired lieutenant colonel will discuss what drove him to speak out — and the retaliation faced by those who challenge the abuse of power.

Please join us for an important virtual event Wednesday, September 15 at noon ET: “When Right Matters in Government: A Conversation on Speaking Out With Retired Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman.

Vindman, who blew the whistle on former President Donald Trump’s infamous phone call to President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, will join The Intercept’s James Risen to discuss the threats faced by public servants who speak out against the wrongdoing of the powerful.

This event is presented by First Look Institute’s Press Freedom Defense Fund in partnership with The Intercept and Georgetown University’s Department of Government.

The conversation will include a Q&A with the audience.

Alexander Vindman joined the National Security Council in 2018 and was a key witness in Trump’s first impeachment proceeding, testifying about a call with the Ukrainian president in which Trump demanded dirt on figures including Hunter Biden as a quid pro quo for improved relations with the U.S.

In this conversation with James Risen, senior national security correspondent and director of the Press Freedom Defense Fund, Vindman will discuss what drove him to speak out — and the retaliation faced by those who challenge the abuse of power.

The event will be recorded, so if you’re unable to attend live, you’ll be able to watch via this RSVP link at a later time.
