Biden announces sweeping vaccine mandates affecting millions of workers.
NBC News (Moderate Left) • Factual Grade 79% • 5 min read

President Biden issued executive orders mandating vaccines for federal workers and contractors. He also asked the Department of Labor to issue a rule requiring all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require unvaccinated workers to produce a negative Covid test at least once a week.
    ...
The requirement could carry a $14,000 fine per violation and would affect two-thirds of the country's workforce [around 100 million workers]. He also encouraged large entertainment venues to require proof of vaccination in order to enter.
    ...
Biden had given federal workers the choice of undergoing regular testing instead of getting vaccinated, but that testing opt-out will no longer be an option. Biden announced that Walmart, Amazon, and Kroger will start selling at-home rapid tests for no profit for the next three months, resulting in a 35% price cut by the end of the week. Medicaid will also cover at-home tests for free for beneficiaries.

Context: Federal report says US needs to install solar faster to meet climate change objectives.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - 25 square miles of land where the Sonoran, Mojave, and Eastern deserts coincide can generate enough power for the entire continent. It's even hotter in the Sonoran Desert in Mexico. Stirling solar power piped out on million volt lines would do it. We currently use million volt lines to pipe energy from the Pacific Northwest to California and it's working well for decades.
