Making HTML emails instead of all-image ones is easier than you think

I love all-image emails.

Say whaaaaaat?

Yes, I love them. I love them because they, on average, look awesome. They’re great to look to for inspiration. I love scrolling through images of them on Really Good Emails and I love seeing them in favorite email blog posts.

However, I don’t love seeing them in my inbox. All-image emails are great for inspiration, but that’s where their greatness ends. The user experience is generally poor and they’re usually pretty inaccessible.

Lately I’ve been seeing more brands leave the all-image email behind. Which makes me so happy. Because creating live text emails is not hard and there are so many ways you can create beautiful emails without resorting to all-images.

I added emotion rich ALT text to our recent Litmus Live email to make it more interesting. Whew, if you need words to describe smiles, yourdictionary.com has got you covered.
I recently got back into knitting and crocheting and oh-em-gee I found the cutest little email icon crochet pattern that I have no idea what I’ll do with it, but I need it in my life.
I’ve been eyeing Laura Kalbag’s Accessibility for Everyone for a while now. It’s back in stock so I’ve snatched up a copy before it sells out again.
