Celebrating AD and BIDN’s Iconic Home Show House

Dear AD PRO Community,

The fall 2021 edition of The Iconic Home virtual show house opened on Monday, and I encourage you to follow the link and take a look around and see the incredible spaces that the BIDN talents have crafted. Helping to create and promote this visionary and sustainable family home has been a huge undertaking for AD and I couldn’t be more proud of the team’s efforts in helping to make it a success. Over the course of this past week, we hosted Instagram Live events every day with the 13 amazing designers on a wide range of topics, and you can still catch these informative and inspiring interviews on AD’s Instagram page.

On Monday I spoke with BIDN president Keia McSwain and Digital Design Editor Sydney Gore hosted a discussion on Functional Luxury with Arianne Bellizaire and Alvin Wayne. On Tuesday Digital Features Editor Nick Mafi talked to Sara Zewde about Responsible Landscape Design and Joan Goodwin, Andre Hilton, and Breegan Jane gave Design Editor Madeleine Luckel tips on Elevating the Bedroom. On Wednesday AD PRO editor Lila Allen met with artists Sasha-Loriene, Joe Turner, Lisa Whittington, and Koby Martin whose work is featured in the house and Digital Director David Kaufman chatted with architect Elizabeth Graziolo and the visualization experts at The Boundary on Building the Future. Thursday saw two more events, designers Danielle Colding and Rasheeda Gray on Designing for Scale with Deputy Digital Editor Allie Weiss and Travis London on Hosting with Impact with Lila Allen. The festivities wrapped up earlier today with David Kaufman discussing Everyday Comfort with Mikel Welch and DuVäl Reynolds.

On the subject of home, I would also like to draw your attention to the latest book by beloved designer and tastemaker Charlotte Moss: Home: A Celebration. It is an inspirational compendium of artists, designers, photographers, writers, actors, and activists offering personal reflections on the meaning of the place that has so much impact on our lives. Sales benefit No Kid Hungry, which fights childhood hunger in the U.S. I’m proud to say that my contribution is included alongside pieces by so many talented members of the design community.
