Editing Jordan Salama’s story about Morat — the Colombian band’s first major English profile — it was impossible not to be charmed by the group’s four members. They started playing together in grade school, got serious at the end of high school, and began finding a global audience when the Mexican pop star Paulina Rubio joined on one of their songs, “Mi Nuevo Vicio.” “The band has been able to forge powerful connections across borders and oceans by speaking to a generation of young people whose personal anxieties and concerns, big or small, often exist amid a broader backdrop of social turmoil,” Jordan writes. Morat is a week into a U.S. tour supporting its latest album, “¿A Dónde Vamos?” (“Where Are We Going?”) — an appropriate question for the current moment, for sure.

Joe Coscarelli wrote about how YoungBoy Never Broke Again, who just scored his fourth No. 1 album despite having little mainstream support (and releasing the LP while in jail awaiting trial on gun charges), has maintained his hold at the top. Ben Sisario spoke with Sherrese Clarke Soares, a Black woman approaching the high-stakes world of catalog sales from a different perspective. Plus Jon Pareles named Brandi Carlile’s new album a Critic’s Pick and Jon Caramanica hosted a conversation about R. Kelly’s conviction on Popcast.
