I guess the big news of the week has been all about the mighty Adele and her new song - a song that quickly set a new Spotify streaming record. Adele’s “Easy on Me” broke the global record for day-one streams on Spotify on the day of its release. For the record… I like the song, but don’t love it. But it’s a nice appetizer for the full album set to release next month.

And then there’s the Spotify-Shopify hookup, which will let artists list merchandise directly on their profiles on the audio-streaming giant’s platform. Should be a nice boon to the musicians - and who doesn’t love sweet merch form their favorite band/artist?

⭐️ Spotify partners with Shopify to add merch to artists’ profiles

Shopify will allow artists on its service to connect their Spotify profiles with their Shopify stores, allowing them to market their merchandise directly to fans through the Spotify app. After connecting their Spotify for Artists accounts with their Shopify online store, artists will be able to sync their product catalog to Spotify to showcase whichever products they choose on their profile in the streaming music app.

⭐️ Spotify rolls out its podcasting platform Megaphone in four European markets

Podcasts have taken the world by storm, and Europe is no exception. Thanks to the thousands of new podcasts that are released daily, listeners have a greater variety of podcast content to engage with and follow than ever before. And along with this growth in listening, come increased opportunities for podcast publishers to find new audiences and monetize their content. 

⭐️ Spotify is getting dedicated Concerts and Discover tabs, according to alleged online leak

It supports the reports that the streaming giant will be getting into ticketed events.

⭐️ Spotify For Artists, Song Start launch free music education series

Spotify for Artists has partnered with Song Start to launch a free music education video and podcast series starring A-list artists and music executives. Song Start was co-founded by songwriters Ali Tamposi and Tamar Kaprelian.
