The event will highlight the critical role of the Chinese shop for the overseas Chinese and Black diaspora. It's not only a retail space, but also an intimate site of cross-cultural gathering and Afro-Asian sociality. Together, three guests will talk about the intersections of African and Asian diasporas in the Caribbean and merchant intimacies including West Indian cooking, shopping, recipes and other sensorial modes through which culture is produced.
