The S.T.U.P.I.D. Email

(Swipe, Thought, Uplifting, Picture, Interesting, Do-over)

This is a fun email for Friday October 29th, 2021. Hope you like it :)

This is a hilarious and perfect explanation of how "Correlation is not Causation" πŸ˜‚

People often say this phrase, and while I know what it means, it's still a little confusing.

I love how this image TOTALLY SUMS UP THE PHRASE, because obviously the roof isn't caved in because of the cat, rather the cat just happened to sit there.

Thought:

A weird phenomenon happens when I try to improve my own copy:

Since I've looked at my own pages hundreds of times, it makes it REALLY HARD to come up with better versions.

However if I look at copy with fresh eyes, I can instantly spot changes πŸ€”

Uplifting

When I was young and poor I would sneak into fancy events to meet rich people.

My fail-safe to get inside was:
β€’ Wear suit or tuxedo.
β€’ Bring a cheap wine glass and fill it from a flask.
β€’ Wrap a cocktail napkin around the stem.
β€’ Tuck an old lanyard badge under suit.
β€’ Talk on phone

...Then walk right in 😏

Looking (and acting) the part would get me into these fancy shindigs where I could meet people out of my typical socioeconomic range.

Picture:

I got a little power-washer-happy the other day and drew a smiley face πŸ™‚into the sidewalk:

Then I looked up "Power washing art" online and found people doing stuff like this:

-and-

It's like a temporary tattoo for your house πŸ˜‚

Interesting:

You can make awesome "Bullet Points" with Emoji, like:

β€’ This
β†’ This
βœ… This
βœ”οΈ This
❌ This
✘ This
βœ”οΈŽ This
β˜… This
☁︎ This
β–Ί This
❒ This
βž– This
βž• This
πŸ”² This
➑️ This
πŸ†‡ This
✏️ This
β—ΌοΈŽ This
πŸ‘‰This
⇨ This
β™₯️ This
➀ This
πŸ”₯This
⭐ This

I like Emoji bullet points better sometimes, because often many programs will have too much margin and wasted space on bullet points...

  • Like
  • this
  • where
  • there's so much
  • wasted space

-Verses-

β€’ Emoji bullet points
β€’ like this
β€’ where there's
β€’ less wasted space

Do-Over:

I'm gonna start a new section to this STUPID email called "Do-Over" where we take someone's existing copy or image, and re-do it.

If you want something of yours featured, reply to this email with anything you'd like to see re-done (something simple and bite sized) liked:

  • Your Twitter bio
  • Email signup form
  • Profile photo
  • Basic home page
  • Headlines
  • Subject lines
  • Blog post titles

Reply to this email and we'll be keeping them in a file to re-do 1 per week!

Hope you enjoyed these little tidbits, have a happy Friday!
Sincerely,
