“Sharing a story helps to create space for others to share theirs, to widen the pathway of who belongs and why.”

Brooke Pickett believes that reading and writing critically is a right, not a privilege. In her talk for CreativeMornings/New Orleans, she invites us to imagine how an entire city would be transformed if a generation of young people could write their futures forward. As Executive Director of 826 New Orleans, Pickett works with the young people of New Orleans, ages 6 to 18, to center and cultivate their voices and get them published. Watch Pickett’s talk and experience the revolutionary power of giving young writers a platform.
