Build your own electric vehicle, fix Windows 11's Start Menu, Alexa air monitor, and more

November 4, 2021

Here in Review Geek land, we like electric vehicles. If nothing else because the thought of never having to stop at a gas station again intrigues us. Every time you get up in the morning, the “fuel tank” is full. That’s the dream. The dream.

But what about gas vehicles? What’s going to happen to them? In some far-fetched world where gas stations go away (to be replaced by Electric Stations, no doubt), will our beautiful classic vehicles never drive again? That’d be a tragedy. And that’s where Ford comes in. What if you could convert an old car or truck into an EV? What if it could cost less than a Tesla? What if? Well, that what if is a reality. Mostly. Check out the top story.

Other Highlights:

  • The holidays are coming, and do you know what they might want? Some fabulous over-the-ear headphones for music listening or gaming. And don’t worry, we gathered the best gift options in one place for you.
  • Do you hate Windows 11’s centered Start Menu? Stardock can bring back Windows 10’s Start Menu and even make it better! Check it out!
  • Surface Go has a new competitor from Asus, and it looks pretty.
  • … and more!

ASUS’ Vivobook 13 Slate Is a Surface Go Competitor with a Cinematic Display

When I look at the Surface Go, I see a missed opportunity. Microsoft’s most affordable 2-in-1 has a small and unimpressive display—it just isn’t great for media consumption, and that’s a bummer, because it’s not powerful enough to fill many other roles. But ASUS seems to have the right idea with its $600 Vivobook 13 Slate, a Surface-styled Windows 11 tablet with a beautiful OLED display. Read More »
