House progressives and moderates united to pass a massive infrastructure deal.
Vox (Left) • Factual Grade 77% • 7 min read

The House passed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill Friday, but did not vote on a sweeping climate and social spending measure as originally planned. The infrastructure bill passed the House 228-206, with 13 Republicans voting in favor. Because it has already passed the Senate, it now heads to President Joe Biden’s desk to become law.
    ...
In exchange for progressive votes for the infrastructure package, moderates would pledge to vote for the spending bill, so long as the Congressional Budget Office — which will lay out how much the measure adds to spending and the deficit — finds the measure’s fiscal impact is as projected.
    ...
Any delays in getting that score could pose a problem for getting the Build Back Better Act passed before the year is over. Should the CBO score come in two weeks, lawmakers would receive it right before leaving Washington for the Thanksgiving recess. The $1.75 trillion social spending bill, dubbed the Build Back Better Act (BBB), did not receive a vote.

Does the racial makeup of the jury matter in the Ahmaud Arbery case?

432 votes, 52 comments

Context: Ahmaud Arbery murder trial jury consists of 11 white people and 1 black person.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - Different experiences with race will certainly shape a jury, so yes in a case dealing with racial undertones the diversity of the jury “matters” - just as women being on a jury with sexual assault cases, they generally have a different perspective then men. However forcing certain quotas on a jury is not how our system works nor should it, it should be a random pool and then each potential juror should be examined for their impartiality and fairness.
