Robinhood said today that an intruder gained access to its systems last Wednesday and made off with the email addresses for about five million Robinhood users and the full names of a different group of about two million users. The intruder also accessed more extensive personal information for a subset of more than 300 users, said the company. Robinhood added that the breach has been contained and that none of its customers experiences financial losses because of it, but security expert Brian Krebs said to expect related phishing attempts that use the stolen info.

SoftBank Group Corp. revealed in its newest earnings report that it has taken a more than $50 billion beating from Beijing’s tech crackdown. The WSJ has more here.

Tesla shares slid nearly 5% today after CEO Elon Musk signaled he was open to selling 10% of his holdings. (See more in "People.")

* BrightChamps, a year-old, Goa, India-based coding and math education platform for K-12 students, has raised $51 million led by Premji Invest at nearly a $500 million valuation. TechCrunch has more here.

* Curated, a four-year-old, San Francisco-based e-commerce platform that enables consumers to discover products online with the help of a passionate expert, has raised a $75 million Series C investment led by CapitalG, with participation from earlier investors Forerunner Ventures and Greylock. The company has now raised $141.5 million altogether. TechCrunch has more here.

* Drata, a 1.5-old, San Diego, Ca.-based security and compliance automation startup, just raised $100 million in Series B funding at a $1 billion valuation. Iconiq led the round, joined by Alkeon Capital, Salesforce Ventures and earlier investors GV Capital, Cowboy Ventures and Leaders Fund. (The company had closed its Series A with $25 million just in June.) VentureBeat has more here. 

* HawkEye 360, a six-year-old, Herndon, Va.-based company that's building a constellation of radio-frequency data satellites, has raised $145 million in Series D funding co-led by Insight Partners and Seraphim Space Investment Trust. Other investors in the round include the United Arab Emirates-based Strategic Development Fund, Jacobs, Gula Tech Adventures, 116 Street Ventures and New North Ventures, along with earlier backers Advance, Razor’s Edge, NightDragon, SVB Capital, Shield Capital and Adage Capital. * H2O.ai, a four-year-old, Mountain View, Ca.-based open-source, machine learning automation platform, just raised $100 million in Series E funding led by Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Other participants in the round include Goldman Sachs, Pivot Investment Partners, Crane Venture Partners and Celesta Capital. The company has now raised $246.5 million altogether and is valued by its investors at $1.7 billion. TechCrunch has more here.

* Jumo, a nearly seven-year-old, Cape Town, South Africa-based company that offers financial services to entrepreneurs and businesses in emerging markets, has raised $120 million in new funding led by Fidelity, with participation from Visa and Kingsway Capital. The outfit has now raised more than $200 million in equity and debt funding to date. TechCrunch has more here. 

* Landing AI, a four-year-old, Palo Alto, Ca.-based company that was founded by AI pioneer Andrew Ng and whose computer vision tool manufacturers use to create their own visual inspection software (including Stanley Black & Decker and Foxconn), has raised $57 million in Series A funding. Intel Capital and Samsung Catalyst Fund both participated in the round, as did Insight Partners and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board. The investment was led by McRock Capital. * Matter Labs, a three-year-old, Ethereum “rollup” scaling company that, among other oufits like it, reduces the traffic on the central Ethereum blockchain by offloading the hard work of processing transactions to efficient secondary chains that record data of transaction batches to the main Ethereum network, just raised $50 million in Series B funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. The company raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding back in March led by Union Square Ventures. TechCrunch has more here. 

* Razor Group, a year-old, Berlin, Germany-based startup that, like so many others, is setting out to acquire independent third-party merchants that have gained traction on Amazon’s Marketplace, has raised $125 million from a mix of new and earlier backers. Among these is Fortress Investment Group, 468 Capital, Victory Park Capital, Presight Capital, Blackrock, Jebsen Capital, Redalpine and Global Founders Capital. TechCrunch has more here.

* Zoomcar, an eight-year-old, Bangalore, India=based startup that allows users to rent cars by the month, week, day and even hour, says it has raised $92 million in new funding led by SternAegis Ventures. The company, which counts India as its biggest market, operates in several nations and also counts Sequoia Capital India as an investor. TechCrunch has more here.

* Fyllo, a 2.5-year-old, Chicago-based startup that sells compliance software as a service, has raised $40 million in Series C funding led by Eminence Capital, with participation from Longview Capital Advisors and ArrowMark Partners. More here.

* Swimm, a two-year-old, Tel Aviv, Israel-based startup that streamlines software development documentation workflows, just raised $27.6 million in Series A funding. Insight Partners led the round, joined by Dawn Capital and earlier backers Pitango and TAU Ventures. The startup has now raised $33.3 million altogether. TechCrunch has more here.

* Symbl.ai, a 3.5-year-old, Seattle-based company that provides APIs to developers to build apps capable of understanding natural human conversations, has raised $17 million in Series A funding. Great Point Ventures led the round, joined by Gutbrain Ventures, PBJ Capital, Crosscut Ventures, and Flying Fish Ventures. VentureBeat has more here.

* Notabene, a nearly two-year-old, Berlin- and New York-based crypto compliance SaaS startup, has raised $10.2 million in a Series A funding round co-led by F-Prime Capital and Jump Capital. TechCrunch has more here.

*Point One Navigation, a nearly six-year-old, San Francisco-based startup that says it hasdeveloped an API for precise location that can be applied to any vehicle that moves, from urban air taxis and drones to scooters, ADAS-equipped vehicles, autonomous vehicles and even farm equipment, just raised $10 million in Series A funding. UP.Partners led the round, joined by earlier investors, including Bolt, IA Ventures and Ludlow Ventures. TechCrunch has more here.

* Alpha JWC, a five-year-old, Jakarta, Indonesia-based venture firm, has closed its third fund with $433 million in capital commitments, saying the amount makes it Southeast Asia’s largest venture pool for early-stage startups. Investors in the new vehicle include International Finance Corporation. The outfit is now managing $630 million in assets across three funds. TechCrunch has more here. 

Cadenza, a three-year-old investment outfit, has raised a $50 million crypto venture fund to invest in early-stage digital finance and blockchain technology companies. Van Eck Associates anchored the fund with participation from Solana, Dapper Labs and WorldQuant Ventures, among others. Kumar Dandapani, a San Francisco-based managing director with the firm, was formerly the head of data science at Norwest Venture Partners. Coindesk has more here.

* StageOne Ventures, the 20-year-old, Israeli venture capital firm, is close to completing the raising of its fourth fund. According to Calcalist, the outfit is targeting $120 million but the fund may grow to $140 million. More here.

The long and winding history of cybersecurity software company McAfee took another interesting twist today when an investor consortium consisting of six investment firms announced that they were purchasing the company for $14 billion. TechCrunch has more here.

Shares of the localized social networking company Nextdoor surged 40% in its first hour of trading today, after it merging with the special purpose acquisition company Khosla Ventures Acquisition Co. II. The shares were temporarily halted and resumed trading with gains of more than 30% over the SPAC’s Friday closing price. Bloomberg has more here.

* Jeff Bezos "jokingly" threatened Leo DiCaprio on Twitter after video surfaced of his girlfriend talking very closely with the actor and environmental activist.

* Deep Nishar, one of the first executives Masa Son hired to rebuild SoftBank in Silicon Valley, and who had said previously that he planned to leave the Vision Fund by year end, is joining General Catalyst in January, the firm tells the New York Times.  His departure follows several other senior Vision Fund partners over the past two years, including Jeff Housenbold, Michael Ronen, Colin Fan and Ervin Tu.

* Elon Musk faces a tax bill of more than $15 billion in the coming months on stock options. Musk asked his 62.7 million Twitter followers over the weekend whether he should sell 10% of his Tesla holdings. The looming tax bill makes a sale of Tesla stock this year likely regardless of the outcome of the Twitter vote. CNBC has more here.
