About 20 minutes ago, I launched a contest in Tangle for people to subscribe to enter a $200 gift card.

It's come to my attention that running purchase-based contests like this is actually illegal. You learn something new every day.

Anyway, we've run a bunch of contests like this in the past for anyone who signs up for the newsletter for free (which is apparently very legal), but this was the first time I ever thought to do a paid subscription drive. I thought I was being clever, turns out I was breaking the law.

So, in order to comply, we're going to have to open up this raffle to anyone who signs up or subscribes in the next 24 hours — whether it's for free or not. If you're one of the handful of people who got paid subscriptions in the last 20 minutes and want a refund, just let me know and I'll do that. We'll keep you in the drawing. In the meantime, you can tell your friends about Tangle and if they sign up for our newsletter we will enter them!
