The case centers on an incident from May 2020, when the McMichaels [along with neighbor William Bryan] grabbed guns and followed Arbery throughout their neighborhood in Georgia allegedly under the assumption that Arbery was the perpetrator of several break-ins within the area. Defense attorney Laura Hogue argued that Arbery escalated the conflict.
