Before you Trade Today: Know the Economic Calendar!

StockTips Market Forecast: I expect this earnings season to be forgotten quickly & the uncertainty as a result of supply chain constraints, inflation, worker shortages, & semiconductor shortages will reclaim market sentiment until next earnings season. Valuations are seriously overpriced right now by any reasonable & historic metric.

Last Week’s Omicron selloff throw off some of my picks … which, if you know why I picked them in the first place, should get you very excited. The overwhelming majority of these were value buys when we scooped them up. If you missed out on any of my picks when I called them, well … here is the opportunity. As for me I don’t see a necessity to average down on existing positions just yet. In this market I’ll average down if any of my picks hit -10% … & only one is even close to that. And I’m certainly not worried about that one .. especially at these prices. In all I like how everything stood up last Friday … which is a benefit of buying value growth on a pullback.

Now lets forget about Omicron. I’m not worried about that just yet. What I am worried about is the underperformance of Black Friday. Overall sales were in fact lower than 2019 (lets not count 2020 shall we), but in store sales were 28% lower. Well you might say people bought early this year or they did more online shopping. Both of those are more than likely true. However the real test will come Cyber Monday. Is retail running out of steam? We will see. Once I have that data I will be more inclined to provide a better assessment for the rest of 2020.

On the economic calendar we have Jerome Powell giving a speech tomorrow & he’ll be in the hot seat on Tuesday. Honestly that’s all I care about this week. Well, I’ll pay attention to the Market Services PMI, but the monster in the room will be the CPI (Inflation) on the 10th of December. Expect some market posturing around that. And speaking of inflation, todays pick in the paid section below was specifically chosen with inflation in mind. I like the price where its at, but certainly wont mind scooping it up at a lower price (If that is even possible at this point).
