Silicon Valley Funding News - Week of December 6, 2021. Panther Labs Raised $120M Series B led by Coatue

I had a pretty serious discussion on with Emily Chang on Bloomberg TV the topic of the Didi delisting and more importantly my 2022 predictions on venture and crypto!

2021 was a blockbuster year for venture investing.  Here are some of my thoughts for 2022 🙂 :

• Unicorn status does not really matter anymore. It’s all about the Decacorn.  🦄🦄🦄
• There are 46 Decacorns today and I think this number will grow to 100 with 50% of them coming from outside the US and many of them will be distributed and decentralized 🌎🌎🌎
• All of these Dacacorns will also set up their own corporate ventures and become a major source of funding and compete 💪💪💪with all the VCs.
• Web 3 / Crypto funding will double to $20-30 billion in 2022 🌱🌱
• More GPs will follow Sequoia and a16z and registering as RIAs 🏦🏦
• Crypto market cap will reach $5 trillion 💰💰💰
• Bitcoin price will come down 30% in January before climbing 🧗‍♂️🧗‍♂️back to the $100,000 level by the end of 2022
• Defi’s total value locked (TVL) 📈 will reach $500 billion from $100 billion in 2021 
• Solana 💪will explode and become #2 in the crypto space beating Ethereum 
• China 🇨🇳will turn around support and embrace Bitcoin mining again
• Jamie Dimon will turn around and publicly support crypto space and start providing crypto custody solutions for his clients. (This is my favorite ❤️) 

• $266.5M goes to 7 Enterprise startups
• $100M goes to 1 FinTech startup
• $5.4M goes to 1 InsurTech startup
• $31.8M goes to 2 Crypto startups
• $100M goes to 2 eCommerce startups
• $10M goes to 1 Wellness startup
• $2.7M goes to 1 FoodTech startup
• $43.5M goes to 2 Healthcare startups
• $109M goes to 1 BioTech startup
• $115M goes to 1 Transportation startup
• $14.6M goes to 2 Other startups
