On the Cover of New York Magazine: 133 Reasons to Love New York (Movies Edition)
For the 17th annual edition of our “Reasons to Love New York” issue, we turned our attention to the screen with an epic celebration of the city’s relationship to cinema and cinema’s relationship to the city. “New York is where the movies were born and reborn — and where they almost died, over and over again,” writes New York film critic Bilge Ebiri in his opening essay. “It’s where film was projected to the public for the first time and where most of the first movie studios were formed.” The package includes a ranking of the 101 best New York City movies, an interview with Griffin Dunne about the Soho of After Hours, an essay by Mark Harris about All About Eve and what it takes to make it in this town, and much, much more, all publishing on Vulture throughout this week.
