Welcome to the final Silicon.news of the year!

As 2021 winds down, I wanted to say a BIG Thank You for you for being an awesome subscriber this past year.

2021 was a huge year for me and the team at Race Capital.  It took a while for us to dig out of that COVID hole, but we came out much much stronger!  Here's a few things to summarize our year:

  • Invested in 12 amazing companies in 2021 including Databricks, FTX's Series B, Opaque, Saber, Goodnotes, SocialChat, Solend and many more!
  • Double the size of our team from 4 to 8
  • Found a new office in Palo Alto (officially opening in 2022)
  • Got almost 50 pieces of media coverage including BloombergThe Information and many more
  • Spoke at live events like Web Summit and Solana Developer Conference and many virtual events at Harvard, Stanford, Acquired, etc.

I look forward to taking times off during the holidays and getting ready for 2022.  This coming week should be pretty slow in Silicon Valley, if you too want to relax and check out some fun books, here are my top 10 favorite books for the year:

  • Billion Dollar Loser: The Epic Rise and Spectacular Fall of Adam Neumann and WeWork by Reeves Wiedeman
  • Who Is Michael Ovitz? by Michael Ovitz
  • Atomic Habits by James Clear
  • The Key Man: The True Story of How the Global Elite Was Duped by a Capitalist Fairy Tale by Simon Clark , Will Louch
  • Doing Capitalism in the Innovation Economy by Bill Janeway
  • Trillion Dollar Coach: The Leadership Playbook of Silicon Valley's Bill Campbell by Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg, Alan Eagle
  • The Woman I Wanted to Be by Diane von Furstenberg
  • Undaunted: Overcoming Doubts and Doubters by Kara Goldin
  • Secrets of Sand Hill Road: Venture Capital and How to Get It by Scott Kupor and Eric Ries
  • Think Again The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know by Adam Grant
Onward and upward 2022!
