Democrats bid to change Senate rules if Republicans thwart voting rights reform.
The Guardian (Moderate Left) • Factual Grade 80% • 4 min read

Senate Majority Leader Schumer announced that the Senate will vote on changing its own rules on or before 17 January, the federal Martin Luther King Jr Day holiday, if Republicans continue to [block election reform bills]. The deadline appears part of a concerted effort to use [this week’s commemorations for the anniversary of the U.S. Capitol riot].
    ...
Sweeping voting rights reforms have stalled in the evenly split 50-50 Senate, repeatedly blocked by a Republican-led filibuster, leaving Democrats unable to find the 60 votes needed to advance. Although Schumer’s words were ostensibly aimed at Republicans, there is little prospect of any members of that party shifting their position.
    ...
But Schumer’s true target is likely to be Democratic holdouts Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who have resisted abolishing or changing the filibuster. The senators contend that if and when Republicans take control of the chamber, they could use the lower voting threshold to advance bills Democrats oppose.

Should social media companies permanently ban politicians for alleged misinformation?

Context: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene permanently suspended from Twitter after fifth strike.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - If people are using a service provided by a social media company to spread information that is not only provably false but genuinely harmful, I believe there should be repercussions. Not to mention that every user signs the terms of service when joining and it clearly states that you can be suspended for violations. Many people seem to think this violates the 1st Amendment, however that does not apply to private companies enforcing their own policies, only ensuring that there be no legal (or illegal) punishment for expressing yourself.
