A hands-on look at TCL's future, Eufy's dual-camera video doorbell, the weirdest Dell XPS, and more

January 5, 2022

When you go to a TCL showcase at CES, you expect to see some new TVs, phones, and tablets—you know, TCL’s bread and butter. That stuff’s neat and all, but we had a chance to go hands-on with three TCL devices that aren’t very well known; the company’s canceled foldable, its second-gen wearable display, and its prototype AR glasses.

You may never have a chance to try these exact products and prototypes, which is a shame, because they’ve helped us understand how TCL is fighting to shape its future as a tech company. If you’d like a glimpse of that exciting future, I suggest reading today’s top story. It’s a fun one.

Other Highlights:

  • Eufy made a video doorbell with two cameras—one to watch your packages, and another to catch strangers or guests. Of all the weird features that companies add to their doorbells, this is the first to get us excited in a while.
  • Kohler just debuted a ton of weird smart home products, including automatic bathtub controllers and a Bluetooth faucet that hangs from your kitchen ceiling.
  • Have you ever tried sticking an AirTag tracker in your wallet? It doesn’t really work. But Chipolo has a new paper-thin wallet tracker that works over the Apple Find My network, just like AirTags!
  • … and more!

During the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), TCL debuted its upcoming products. Tucked between a laptop and traditional Android phones was the future of the company. OnePlus Reveals Enough 10 Pro Specs to Prove It’s a Beast

OnePlus finally revealed its first teaser images of the 10 Pro flagship on July 3rd, and it’s now confirming some of the phone’s specs. We’re still missing a lot of basic details, which is annoying, but at least we know enough to confirm that the OnePlus 10 Pro is a genuine monster. Read More »

Eufy’s Latest Video Doorbell Proves Two Cameras Are Better Than One

When friends complain about their video doorbell, they’re usually upset about one of two problems. Either the doorbell can’t see packages at the doorstep, or it captures a tall and skinny video that misses everything to its left or right. I usually suggest buying a security camera to accompany the doorbell, but Eufy has a simpler solution—stick two cameras in the doorbell! Read More »

Forget the Swiffer: Roborock Combined a Real Stick Vacuum with a Mop

Of all the cleaning products in my home, the relatively cheap Shark Vacmop is probably my favorite. It’s perfect for cleaning quick messes, which I make often. But I’ll be the first to say my Vacmop isn’t a great vacuum or a great mop. So imagine my surprise when Roborock told me about its new Dyad vacuum mop, which has real brush heads instead of a nasty cleaning pad. Read More »

RoboRock Made a Robot Mop That Finally Makes Sense

Believe it or not, robot vacuums don’t suck anymore. They’re powerful, intelligent, and well worth the effort of dumping out a dust bin every few days. But you can’t say the same for robot mops. They require a ton of maintenance, and frankly, that maintenance isn’t worth the half-baked “mopping” job you end up with. Roborock has a solution, though, and it’s enormous. Read More »
