The fire broke out inside a Philadelphia Housing Authority building. Eight people were living in the lower unit of the building and 18 were living in the upper unit. There were 14 residents authorized on the lease for the upper unit. Fire officials said 8 children and 4 adults died in the fire.
    ...
Philadelphia's code does not limit occupancy for family residences, Department of Licenses and Inspections spokesperson Karen Guss told USA TODAY. It's also possible some of the people in the building may have been guests and not residents, she said. There were no records of violations issued by the city licenses and inspections department, Guss added. The number of exits at the building was sufficient, she said.
    ...
The building was equipped with smoke detectors but "none of them operated," [a Philadelphia Fire Department official] said. The housing authority inspected one of the units in April 2021 and the other in May 2021, according to the statement from the city. Smoke detectors in the units were working during those inspections.

Was the Jan. 6 Capitol riot an insurrection?

Context: Anniversary of Jan. 6 capitol riot.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - To those saying it’s a just a mob or a riot that went wrong, that overlooks what was Constitutionally occurring that day. If the riot happened another day, it could be called a riot. But the riot happened strategically to prevent the Electoral College process from occurring. The Electoral College and the peaceful transfer of power are written into the Constitution. That is what differentiates it as an insurrection and not a riot.

No - I don't think so because I don't think the intent was there. Insurrection is defined as "a violent uprising against a government." But [...] I think [an uprising] requires a...

Unsure - There were definitely bad actors attempting to do so but from what I have seen and heard (to me) it looked like a lot of people caught up in a moment that ...
