5 Freezing Cold Odd Jobs

It’s so cold this week in New York City. I called to tell my mom about how my left hand won’t unfreeze and she told that I’m odd.

“I’m odd?”

“Yes,” she said into her speaker phone as she gazed at ocean from a lounge chair in Florida. “You’re from Florida. You’re not supposed to live in cold weather. Move home.”

While she’s doing everything she can for her “move home” campaign to be successful, I’m doing everything I can to stay warm (gloves, sweatpants on sweatpants, tea, etc.).

What the heck is this job:

According to the Career Project, a cold storage supervisors are responsible for overseeing various activities involved in the storage of items kept in the cold (e.g., fridge or freezer).

What the heck is this job?

According to ECO, as an avalanche forecaster, you play a critical role in protecting the public and raising avalanche awareness. You combine skills in mountaineering with knowledge of mountain conditions, weather, and snow science to evaluate the risk of avalanches in a given area.
