Issue 199 - V11 UI Concept

Community

A real-world range simulator using physics
A Reddit user, MotorMatchup, has created this great range simulator, totally worth taking a look at!

V11 UI concept 📹
A Tesla fan and designer published a concept design for the V11 quick actions bar. One of the cool things about it is that you can add any settings to it. I know that Elon said that almost all input is an error, but I like the ability to set up my shortcuts the way I want ðŸ˜Š

Developer hack puts CarPlay on Tesla using a Raspberry Pi 📹
I personally don't miss CarPlay in my Tesla, but if you do, a developer has come up with a way to get CarPlay running on a Tesla, with a workaround allowing drivers access to their iPhones while behind the wheel. The author,  MichaÅ‚ GapiÅ„ski, says that the project is currently in its early stages and he plans to release it to the public "when it's polished".

FSD Beta

Tesla's FSD hardware 4.0 to use new cameras
It's well known that Tesla wants to keep iterating on their AP hardware. According to a Twitter user, Tesla is planning to use Sony's new IMX490 automotive sensor in their upcoming hardware 4.0 revision. The new sensor would provide 5.4 megapixels compared to the 1.2 megapixels and the new wide-angle sensor might also allow Tesla to drop the number of cameras used in the front-facing module.

Tesla FSD Beta in Canada in 2-4 weeks
Or at least that is what Elon said this week. If you happen to be one of the first lucky ones in Canada, just remember that FSD Beta isn't good with snow nor in ice conditions.

FSD Beta 10.9 (2021.44.30.10) release notes ðŸ“·
FSD beta v10.9 is here and it comes with a decent number of updates. As someone who got their Beta access recently, I really want to see it improving on unprotected left turns by proceeding straight while yielding. Again, I love these detailed release notes, thank you Tesla team!

Tesla China

Tesla adds cargo hooks to the rear trunk of Made-in-China Model Y, Parcel Shelf added to owner’s manual ðŸ“·
Recently, some folks in the Tesla community in Spain were asking about cargo hooks in the Y. According to them, those are required when the trunk doesn't have a shelf or any other separation from the cabin. A recent update to the owner's manual now states that the rear trunk area in the Model Y includes four hooks as well as a cargo cover.

How long does it take for a Tesla Gigafactory to build a Model Y?
It seems that Tesla China can produce one Model 3 every 44.3 seconds with probably ~10 hours for the entire process. Pretty impressive speed here!

Always here always with every Tesla owner - Tesla Service 📹
China is well known for its many EV companies, and in there Tesla needs to step up its support game to compete with the rest. This video of Tesla China showcases how great their customer support it is in China, where customers can still call in to ask their questions. I kind of miss better customer support here in the States 😢

💡 Tip of the week

Get a couple of different adapters for your mobile connector and carry them with you when on trips. I personally recommend 10-30, 14-30, and 14-50. You can find them on Tesla's online shop https://shop.tesla.com/product/gen-2-nema-adapters.

🤓 What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • AP -  Autopilot
  • EV -  Electric Vehicle
  • FSD -  Full Self-Driving
  • UI - User Interface
