Odd Jobs - Odd Ways to Make Money off Love
This Week: Let’s chat about love and the odd ways you can make cash as people’s hearts tangle.Know someone who’d get a kick out this newsletter?Greetings, oddies. Some of you view Valentine’s day as a made up holiday. That’s cool, that’s cool. Others of you view it as a holiday to celebrate, regardless of your relationship status. I’ve always fancied the holiday, even though I’ve been single for most of my life. I’ve bought the greetings cards and the candy, the flowers and the teddy bars - for myself, my friends, and for people I loved. So sure, there are obvious ways to profit off of love (just open a last-minute flower/candy/card delivery service that promises to drop off items in 15-minutes or less and you’ll make money and be heroic). But this newsletter isn’t about the obvious. IT’S ABOUT THE ODD. So let’s look at some peculiar ways people are making cash off of those who fall in love. The Business of LOVEThe Dating StuffI’ve chatted about this before. You could become: Dressing up like Cupid-I couldn’t find anyone doing this, but you can totally do this gig. Buy a cupid or Valentine’s day costume and have people pay you to take a picture (just like they pay big bucks to pose with Santa or the Easter bunny). Love NFTs-I am obsessed with all things NFTs right now. It’s not just digital art that’s worthless. NFTs all have a different purpose and often with extra perks. You can create NFTs for the love and dating space. Example: a collection of NFTs that give singles access to a private dating community. Once they find love, they can sell the NFT to someone who wants to get access to the single’s club. Greeting Card WriterIf you’re a writer, why not create a series of greeting cards perfect for Valentine’s day? You can make them for free using Canva.com and sell them on Etsy or your own website. Proposal MakerYou know what comes with the holiday of love? Engagements. Check out these people who plan proposals. Consider a gig like that.
