Sources: 19 Austin police officers indicted over protests.
Associated Press (Center) • Factual Grade 88% • 5 min read

A Texas grand jury indicted 19 Austin police officers on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for their actions during 2020 protests over racial injustice. It ranks among the most indictments on a single police department in the U.S. over tactics used by officers during the widespread protests — methods that led to the resignation or ouster of several police chiefs across the country.
    ...
Word of the indictments came hours after Austin city leaders approved paying $10 million to two people injured by members of the 1,640-officer department in the protests, including a college student who suffered brain damage after an officer shot him with a beanbag round.
    ...
Ken Casaday, the president of the Austin Police Association, called the move “devastating” for law enforcement in the city, but also said he’s confident that no officer will be convicted. Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, when committed by a public servant, could carry a sentence of up to life in prison.

Context: New poll reveals 21% of Generation Z identifies as LGBTQ

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - I think it's a fad for some people and for others, a true orientation. Most young people are exploring life, trying new things, and trying to understand what it means to be an adult. In the past, exploring sexual orientation was met with hate and violence. Like many other things, those violent reactions are nothing more than vestiges of a much more ignorant past. It's their life. They should be able to live it the way they want.

No - “Being LGBTQ” is this younger generation’s countercultural belief system, where people say they are gender fluid to fit in with friends or get attentio...
