The Daily Gwei - Long the Culture - The Daily Gwei #442
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend ETHDenver over the last few days but thankfully I had Twitter to keep me informed about what was happening. One thing stuck out to me as it usually does from Ethereum conferences - and that’s just how many passionate builders were in attendance despite the overall crypto markets having been very quiet for the last few months. ETH price 📉
ETHDenver attendance 📈🚀
My long-term thesis for Ethereum and ETH has always revolved around betting on the passionate builders because they stick around no matter what the markets are doing As I said in my tweet above, what’s given me most of my conviction on Ethereum over the years has always been the builders. Their passionate drive to continue to build amazing products and services is incredibly infectious and honestly it inspires me to be better myself. These builders add a tonne of value to the Ethereum network and I’ve long valued ETH by having the thesis that the more valuable the network becomes; the more valuable ETH becomes. And what adds the most amount of value to the Ethereum network? Why the builders of course! I’ve also heard from a bunch of friends at the conference that there was an incredible amount of younger people in attendance this year (late teens/early 20’s). Of course, there are plenty of people of all ages who add incredible value to this ecosystem, but I’m always excited about more younger folk getting involved because it means they aren’t wasting their talents elsewhere (usually at some centralized web2 company). These younger people are also generally unencumbered by the “old ways” of doing things and can bring lots of fresh ideas to the table - I think we need this now more than ever. Lastly, these conferences are insanely good networking events that are distinctively different to the online world. I mean, online communication is amazing, but it definitely lacks the very human element that we all naturally crave - and it doesn’t really lend itself to being able to be in a room with people to just “vibe” about something. That may sound silly, but given that we are all cooped up in our houses/offices most of the time, going to a conference and making real human connections really is a major refresher for our minds. I’m hoping to attend a few of the major Ethereum conferences this year because it’s been far too long since I experienced Ethereum culture in all of its glory (my last conference was ETHDenver 2020). If possible, I highly recommend that all of you attend at least 1 major Ethereum conference this year and engross yourself in everything it has to offer. Once you do that, you’ll never want to leave this industry and you’ll probably want to become a builder yourself! Have a great day everyone, Enjoyed today’s piece?
