In his address, Putin claimed “to defend people who for eight years are suffering persecution and genocide by the Kyiv regime,” a reference to a false claim about the government in Ukraine. Putin claimed that the Russian military seeks “demilitarization and denazification” but not occupation. He demanded Ukraine lay down its weapons.

Exactly what’s happening on the ground in Ukraine is hard to know. There are reports of explosions around major cities, something Ukraine’s foreign minister confirmed. Reuters also reported Russian troops landing in two Ukrainian cities, Mariupol and Odessa.
    ...
The United States has said it will not involve troops in any Ukrainian conflict, though the US has added troops to NATO’s eastern flank. That leaves sanctions as the main tool against Russia, and the US and its European allies are likely to place another round of much tougher sanctions on Russia following a first round of penalties that did little to deter Moscow.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - Entertainment revenue is driven by ticket sales and television ad revenue for coverage of the sport. [...] You can argue whether this should or should not be the case, but it is never-the-less true, and any scheme to "equalize" men's and women's pay in a particular sport would require unfairly stealing revenue generated by the men so it can be distributed to the women. They are not employees who should be treated equally, and even within their own teams, all athletes differ in terms of their popularity with audiences (and thus importance to the team's revenue), and usually this is also reflected in their earnings - those with the most talent and charm make the most money on and off their respective playfields or courts.

Yes - The most common argument I've heard for why women athletes are paid less is because they bring in less viewers/sponsors/money. But, is th...

Unsure - It depends on the sport. When it comes to soccer and tennis, the viewing draw is equal, even showing that the women within those sport...
