Perhaps you've reached the point in life where you're able to save a bit of your paycheck. It's not a lot, but enough that you know you should do something with it.*

So yes, investing. You support it. In theory. But the barrier to entry can feel like a lot. So we spoke with the investment team over at Titan, a new investment platform that is all about making the investing process accessible for everyone, no matter how well-versed (or not) you are in the stock market. The Titan team walked us through how to get over that initial hump to start making our hard-earned money work for us... instead of the other way around.

START INVESTING WITH TITAN
*We know that this does not apply to all readers—perhaps you are already a savvy investor! Or aren't able to commit to investing right now. We get it—hopefully you find this q&a still valuable no matter where you are financially right now.

Q: How does one figure out the right amount of money to invest in the market versus keep in cash?

A: The important thing to remember is that no amount is too small to get started, and waiting “to have enough to invest” shouldn’t be an excuse. We generally tell our clients to invest as you’re able; whether that's once a paycheck, once a month, or once a year. Spending time in the market is the only way to reap the benefits, no matter how much you have to invest.
And did we mention you only need $100 to start investing with Titan? :)

Q: For newbies, how do you recommend starting to better understand the stock market without succumbing to information overload?

A: Start with a product like Titan, where we walk you through the process of getting invested. Plus, we invest for you, and educate you along the way. In the coming months, we're going to be creating a dedicated content series on both basic and more advanced financial literacy, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Why didn’t they teach this in school?!

Q: What’s the minimum amount of time one should be spending on their investments every week?

A: John DeYonker, our Head of Investor Relations, suggests that “you check out market updates most days, and take a look at your portfolio every couple weeks. You should be focused on a time horizon [Editor's note: for newbies, "time horizon" basically just meals the time in which you'd want to earn some returns on your investment] for your investments of at least 3-5 years (but ideally much longer!), so don’t be too concerned with weekly or daily fluctuations in prices going up or down.”

Q: So, how exactly is Titan different from other investment brands? We've already got some low-key investing apps on our phones...

A: Before Titan, there were a few subpar ways to invest. Your first option was to use a DIY investing app where you’re thrown right into the deep end and have no guidance on how to invest or what to invest in. Alternatively, you could use passive investing apps or index funds that track the market but don’t give you much information about what’s happening with your money.

The ultra-wealthy, on the other hand, don’t have to choose between these two options. They have a team of investment analysts who invest for them in a whole host of innovative investment opportunities. We thought, why shouldn’t everyone have access to that? That’s why we built Titan: to give you a team of experts that invests in stocks and crypto for you, aims to outperform the market (not simply track it), and educates you along the way.
