Most mRNA vaccine side effects are mild and short-lived

A new study published in Lancet Infectious Diseases today found that the vast majority–92%--of side effects from Pfizer and Moderna’s Covid vaccines are mild, subsiding in just a day or two. The study involved an investigation of VAERS and V-Safe data, which enable the self-reporting of health impacts post-vaccination. Fewer than 1% of the people who self-reported side effects sought any type of medical attention, and the most common side effects were fatigue, headache and pain at the injection site. These findings help bolster the already significant body of evidence that the mRNA Covid-19 vaccines currently in wide use are safe, effectively prevent severe disease and lower the risk of symptomatic infection.
