146YEARS ago today Alexander Graham Bell made the first telephone call, saying to his assistant Thomas Watson "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you". This was the foundation of a company that would become what is known today as AT&T.

 

    

RECC’E OF THE DAY

 

107YEARS after it sank, scientists have found and filmed one of the greatest ever undiscovered shipwrecks - Endurance, the lost vessel of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. Found 10k feet down in the Weddell Sea, its being hailed as one of the finest wooden shipwrecks ever found due to its remarkable condition.

144ftLONG, the three-masted Endurance set out to take Shackleton and his team south to make the first land crossing of Antarctica between 1914 and 1917. However prior to reaching landfall they had to abandon the quest when the ship became trapped and then holed by sea-ice, sinking on November 21, 1915.

 

 

TRACKING

35kPEOPLE were evacuated from 3 cities on Wednesday during a planned 12 hour ceasefire however corridors in some of the hardest hit areas such as Mariupol and Kharkiv did not hold.  There are a further 6 humanitarian corridors planned to open on Thursday.

27EU MEMBER states have agreed to start the lengthy process of examining membership bids by Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. It’s a process which ordinarily takes years however Ukraine has requested an expedited process, one which doesn’t currently exist.

58%OF RUSSIAN people approve of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine while 23% oppose it. For those aged 18-24 - 39% oppose the ‘special operation’ and 29% support it.

Scientists found ants can ‘discriminate between cancerous and healthy cells and between two cancerous lines.'

100+COUNTRIES are already exploring or piloting the concept of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC’s). Now President Biden has appeared to show support for the concept in the U.S by stating that a CBDC would positively impact the climate and environment as there would be no need for mining with a digital currency issued by a central bank.
