💻 Microsoft really doesn’t want you running Windows 11 on “unsupported hardware”

Did you upgrade an unsupported PC to Windows 11 following our instructions? If so, Microsoft will soon put a “System Requirements Not Met” watermark on your desktop.

This sounds bad, but Microsoft is offering a way to get rid of the message (with a registry hack.) Originally, Microsoft warned that unsupported PCs may not get security updates after upgrading to Windows 11. Thankfully, Microsoft is still providing security updates.

Windows 11 is solid (aside from all the unfinished parts, like the taskbar), but we recommend running it on supported hardware. If you have a Windows 10 PC that can’t officially upgrade, we recommend staying on Windows 10. Microsoft will keep supporting Windows 10 until October 2025, and you won’t have to deal with desktop watermarks.
