The creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) just hit paydirt

Yuga Labs, the owner of three of the biggest NFT brands on the market, (BAYC, CryptoPunks and Meebits) has raised $450 million in funding at a $4 billion valuation.

The team plans to use the money to build a media empire around NFTs, starting with games and its own metaverse project. The funding round was led by (you guessed it) Andreessen Horowitz.

Miscellaneous: The NFT collections owned by Yuga Labs (Punks, BAYC, Meebits, MAYC, BAKC) generate 26% of Ethereum NFT market monthly volume.

The man behind Ethereum is worried about crypto’s future

​

Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, was interviewed by TIME in a cover story, labeling him the "Prince of Crypto." In the interview, Buterin said there are increasing dangers with cryptocurrencies, including overeager investors and soaring transaction fees.

He acknowledges that his vision for the transformative power of Ethereum is at risk of being overtaken by greed.

The firm is devoted to backing crypto startups— investing in both start-up equity, and in some cases the cryptocurrencies issued by those start-ups (tokens).

🔹 Ecommerce growth is slowing globally: Tracking the growth of ecommerce globally in 2020 was simply adding up the latest gains, but 2021 brought a more sober picture of the digital commerce market. One that is, per public company data, slowing. For startups building in the space, there’s still growth to be had, but less than before.

🔹 Blackstone plans fund for people with millions not billions: Codenamed BXPE, the new private equity fund targets multimillionaires who want exposure to things you can't get on public markets. We’re sure the estate agents, lawyers, surgeons, dentists, and viral YouTubers of the world will form a long queue. Fact: Individual investors are an $80 trillion market.

Critics roasted this Bloomberg Opinion tweet last Saturday that said inflation hurts people making "less than 300k."

In an op-ed, Teresa Ghilarducci argued that inflation “stings most” for those making less than $300,000 per year, but can be combatted by eating lentils instead of meat and neglecting your pet’s health! (Looks like "$299K is the new poverty line). Read the article - no Paywall.
