UX Database Newsletter #100

Issue #100 mygod 🎉

I can't believe this is the 100th newsletter I send 😱.

Calculating it's almost two years since I started this project, when I published this newsletter on 04/05/20, those were the days!

This was the first iteration of the page, being a very fast work in Webflow (I had no idea of using it, to be honest), where the only thing I did was to hook Mailchimp and the form to receive the leads, and little by little it started to get momentum, but let's be honest, it wasn't the most attractive thing in the world. The stats were more or less 10-20 daily visitors and less than 500 subscribers.

The second iteration was the product database, where I continue to collect design tools and resources, boosting the site quite a bit. I launched it on 25/11/20, a few months later than the newsletter, and the visits and subscribers increased considerably, reaching 100-200 daily visits and around 1500-2000 subscribers. The screenshot comes out regular because Archive breaks the emojis ☹️

And finally, in February this year, the free product design course was launched! I'm not going to talk too much about it because I figure everyone who reads me knows what it is hehehehe. The visits are now between 500 and 1K daily and 3200 subscribers.

Now the next phase is what I already mentioned in the previous issue, the skills tracking tool!

I am very happy that although these numbers for many are low, I at least as long as they go upwards even if it's super slow, I am content, and more importantly, creating social impact 💜

Thank you so much for reading me these years!!! 🎉

Table design should support four common user tasks: find records that fit specific criteria, compare data, view/edit/add a single row’s data, and take actions on records.

Page Laubheimer

Process, process, process. I think organization designers and product managers can borrow the concept of “minimum viable product” when thinking about process. Let’s call it minimum viable process.

Tim Casasola

Every usability test shows that there is no single, general and well-established way of exploring websites. Depending on the task at hand and the frequency of visits, users apply very different modes of navigation.

There are also instances where we want people to wait, when a delay is a choice. So what do we do? How do we make this fairly unavoidable thing feel like more than a shameful afterthought?

Benoit Rajalu

Design as a strategic framework is starting to be seen in organizations of all sizes. Companies are now thinking about how they can scale their design processes and apply both DesignOps and design thinking.

The history of Firefox UI is important because my project compensates for the shortcomings of this Proton UI and inherits the strengths of the existing Firefox UIs. It's also one of the ways to prevent divisions in the community, given that there have been forks every time the UI changes big.
