5 Artists From the UNDRGRND Collection 

UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured. Purchases will be airdropped to reward UNDRGRND community members.

Matías Barquez

Matías Barquez is a Chilean cartoonist and animator mainly inspired by artists from Eastern Europe - Poland and the Czech Republic. All his work is analog and then digitally edited. He likes to stay as traditional as possible, especially in animation, "I work frame by frame with paper and a lighting table, and I also cut a sub-frame." His drawings vary depending on his mood. There are days when he wants to draw very sloppy and at ease, like when he was a child, but there are days when he wants to draw like Brueghel. Matias likes to draw with materials that would typically be thrown away (e.g., dry markers). When he works, he is filthy and always makes a mess. He would like to do more things like documentaries in the future and also make music. He claims to have "too many ideas" and would like to explore different media for them. Most of his art comes from experiences or movies he enjoys, mixing absurd things with profound themes. He thinks his characters are always looking for something, but what? He is unable to define it himself. The most appropriate description of Matías Bárquez is as a soul searching, discovering, and communicating what is essential in the life of each of us.

Zandista

Zandista is a 20-year-old artist from Indonesia. The juxtaposition of their age and talent creates an incredible balance. It will be wonderful to follow and watch them grow and evolve as an artist. Zandista's work may appear random and chaotic, but there is purpose in each piece, reflecting on the passing cycle of time. The forms are consistent; the colors match the creator's intentions. What is this intention? It is a journey into the unknown of human emotion. The interpretation arises spontaneously in the recipient; it is strong and will stay for a long time.

Ardhdwp

Ardhdwp is an artist from Indonesia. He has been creating art since 2013. Working in 2D, his art tells stories about everyday matters, activities or down-to-earth problems - the kind that each of us struggles with. It is all shown in a fairly psychedelic way. The deep and bold colors give character to the works and demand attention. The viewer goes on a journey through life within these moments illustrated by the artist. The impressions are strong but packaged in a pleasant and even friendly way.

Rasa Kolko

Rising Iranian NFT artist, Rasa Kolko, creates 3D and 2D characters, some of them a mixture of abstract forms and portrait art (like the Corroid project). Usually, his work is not limited to any specific software but works mainly with Zbrush and Keyshot. His animations can hypnotize and lead to a state where time ceases to exist, yet, the shadows on the animations show the passing of time. He uses people as structures, the outline of which typically remains stationary while the interior vibrates and releases energy. It creates an unusual visual and statement on us as humans for whom people are typically the center of attention.

COMMUNITY DIGS: Bergarator

Bergarator states in his tezos bio, "I hate cute 3D characters." We could interpret his work as a response to cookie-cutter 3D animal PFP projects that have saturated the NFT market. Bergerator's work pines for the days of claymation and stop motion art in his collection of Bizarre Characters Eating, featuring an alien from the world of Ridley Scott, with a variety of other bizarre-looking characters eating various foods from pizza to calamari. The animation depicting these characters gorging themselves on food is impossible to ignore. - NickRed

Each UNDRGRND DIGS will feature artists our curators have purchased for the UNDRGRND Collection. UNDRGRND will airdrop pieces from our collection to community members via giveaways.
