5 Artists From the UNDRGRND Collection 

UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured. Purchases will be airdropped to reward UNDRGRND community members.

Amillustrated

Amillustrated’s Sunset Dream conveys motion in such a delightful manner. A lot of attention and care was given to the waves of water on the surface and with how it blends with the water below and the clouds above. The fish is illustrated with stunning magical realism and guides the viewer through this sunset dream. The jellyfish swimming and flying around are also magical both in how they look and how they fly out of the water. Looking at the seaweed and bubbles underwater, the viewer physically feels submerged in the water. The colour gradient and the execution of these light streaks are impeccable, adding another layer of beauty to this scene. The scales of the fish are gorgeous. You can almost feel the weird slimy texture thanks to the detail and the shading.

Choski

The art of Choski is very diverse and would make a great album cover, no matter the genre. The piece Do You Mind? contains so much emotion in such a simple composition. In what looks like an apartment building, two characters face different directions in the dark with only two floors lit up. Choski depicts a whole architectural phenomenon with just a couple of lines, some texture, and some fractal noise. The clouds help indicate how high this building is with calming gradients in the windows. The description of Cosmic Mirror gives sage advice, "Life is nothing but a reflection of your own thoughts and actions. Live accordingly." Although the mirror here seems like it's not reflecting but rather absorbing everything. If you look closely, the stars in that mirror are yellow, possibly the beam is looking in to the mirror dimension.

Artsyryo

Artsyryo brings us landscapes, characters, and deities, amongst other things, with a style best described as a mash-up between early 90's Cartoon Network illustration and PS2 graphics. It's as if we're looking through a CRT monitor years later, basking in the nostalgia of the colossal guardian these astronauts find in 2022. Most of the illustrations have narratives, characters and motifs that are all connected, bringing us stories and characters from different realms. The Altar serves as part two of The Pilgrim. The pilgrim has found the tomb, with murals on the wall that possibly depict other stories from Artsyryo. You can follow the beautifully illustrated pilgrim’s journey in The Goddess, The Truth, The North Star and hopefully more to come.

Lakon

Lakon refers to himself as the "Self-Appointed Bard of The Kurukshetra", a la William Shakespeare. Every friend group, society, or country needs a storyteller to pass information along. Historians serve as storytellers, and Lakon uses the blockchain to tell a story for our times he calls Kurukshetra. The red and white light streaks in Jarasanda are marvelous. The very subtle RGB chroma glitch add to the character of this animation. Each animation hints at a more complex story and with Jarasanda we’re given the description,

”The Prince born from two consorts,
Each gave birth to half of the prince’s body.
The prince breathes life as one body.
In his time of death.
The prince shall return as two.”

Following Lakon to see this story develop will be worth the commitment.

COMMUNITY DIGS: Aysa Putri

UNDRGRND community members we refer to as “diggers”, nominate their favorite undiscovered artists to be featured in weekly DIGS. UNDRGRND empowers its community to dig for bold, innovative, under valued NFT artists.

Each UNDRGRND DIGS will feature artists our curators have purchased for the UNDRGRND Collection. UNDRGRND will airdrop pieces from our collection to community members via giveaways.

Aysa's art will first start appearing in trendy bars in major cities. There will be digital frames in the hallways to the bathrooms. Every few feet will be another positive affirmation uplifting people on their night out on what may be the best night of their life. The joy and euphoria will spread, and social media influencers will share them across all social media. Eventually, marketing executives for Target will catch wind of these beautiful images and have to check them out for themselves. And then, in the not-so-distant future, suburban moms in the United States will begin buying Arya's art en masse to hang on the walls of their homes to replace their static, cheap canvas, word art with clever sayings and positive vibes. There is a lot of talk about the impact NFTs will have on our lives through proof ownership and decentralization. But, perhaps the most impactful will be simple things like the type of mass-produced art we hang on our walls. And there will be Aysa's beautiful flashing cityscapes encouraging millions to always try to Be Better, Carry On doing what you’re doing, or take it One Day At A Time. - Bored Calvin
