Product Habits - A quick tip

Marie and I were writing our May investor update for Nira.

The audience is our investors, advisors and also Nira team members.

We always start with a brief narrative in the beginning before diving into our KPIs and summary of each important area of the business. Here’s what we started with for May’s update:

“Because of the economic environment right now, it’s more important than ever for us to stay true to what we’ve learned that matters to our customers the most. This is what we did in May.”

Before we started building or doing customer development with our target audience, we used what’s now become my favorite customer research method.

This method is so easy that any product team can do it in less than a week. It’s unknown so you’ll get insights that your competitors definitely don’t have. And it has always delivered amazing insights in my experience.

Job descriptions are a goldmine of customer insights.

Once we had an idea of the titles for our target buyers and end-users, we analyzed job descriptions for those roles. Our focus was CIOs and IT Managers initially.

Eventually we published the findings on our blog: Now that I’ve shared my favorite customer research method, I’d love to hear from you.

What’s your favorite customer research method?

Take care,

Hiten
