Read a Girl #44: “Yes Please”, Amy Poehler

Long time, huh? Long story short: Google closed the newsletter’s email account God-only-knows-why and only last week did I manage to get it back up. Yep. So, apologies for missing our monthly chat in June.

To get over this tech-induced nightmare, I say we try to keep it light this month with Amy Poehler’s “Yes Please”. I am such a huge fan of everything Amy does, from her SNL days to her directing career and work as a producer, being responsible for one of my most beloved TV shows, “Broad City”. She’s the kind of artist that doesn’t just talk the talk, she most definitely walks the walk too, supporting the work of many other women in the business.

And her book is no different. It’s everything you’d expect it to be. It’s filled with funny bits, sure. But it’s the parts where we see the real Amy that really got to me — one chapter, specifically when she is incredibly honest about how hard it is to write anything, especially a book.

If you are looking for a book to keep you company during the summer, let this be the one.
