• The Nature Conservation will provide some $7.8 million in an effort to save the Palau National Marine Sanctuary, Tia Belau reported. The agreement between The Nature Conservation and Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment, states that the money will be disbursed over the next four years “pursuant to Republic of Palau’s commitment to maintain the Palau National Marine Sanctuary,” according to Tia Belau.

• Compact negotiations between FSM and the U.S. and the Marshall Islands and the U.S. are expected to be completed by fall, per the Pacific Island Times. (FSM, Palau and the Marshall Islands each have their own compacts with the U.S. )

• Nover Juria “has been awarded a full-ride scholarship to pursue graduate study at Sophia University’s Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies in Tokyo, Japan,” the Marianas Variety reported. This is a very competitive scholarship, Variety noted. Well done!

Against a massive banner that read “Make History,” FSM swimmers did just that at the FINA World Aquatic Championships, according to the Kaselehlie Press.

Tasi Limtiaco set a new FSM national record in the 50-meter breaststroke. Kestra Kihleng added a new FSM national record time in the 50-meter butterfly. Kyler Kihleng also logged a personal best time in his 100-meter freestyle race, the Kaselehlie Press reported.
