Amazon is buying an operator of primary-care clinics. The $3.9 billion deal, including debt, for 1Life Healthcare, which operates under the name One Medical, is the first major acquisition announced during the tenure of CEO Andy Jassy. The WSJ has more here.

Snap shares plummeted more than 25%(!) in extended trading today reported disappointing second-quarter results and saying that it plans to slow hiring as it reckons with weakening revenue growth. CNBC has more here.

15Five, an 11-year-old, San Francisco-based performance management company, has raised $52 million in Series C funding led by Quad Partners, with participation from Next47, Origin Ventures, Matrix Partners, Point Nine Capital and New Ground Ventures. The company has now raised roughly $94 million altogether. TechCrunch has more here. 

BigHat Biosciences, a three-year-old, San Mateo, Ca.-based biotech company developing antibody therapies, raised $75 million in Series B funding led by Section 32. Other backers in the round included Amgen Ventures, Bristol Myers Squibb, Quadrille Capital, Gaingels, and GRIDS Capital. FierceBiotech has more here.

Fonoa, a three-year-old, Dublin, Ireland-based corporate tax compliance startup, has raised $60 million in Series B funding from Coatue, Index Ventures and Dawn Capital. TechCrunch has more here.

Meati Foods, a six-year-old, Boulder, Co.-based alternative meats company, has raised $150 million in Series C funding led by Revolution Growth, with participation from CPP Investments, Grosvenor, Wellington Management and Chipotle's Cultivate Next. TechCrunch has more here.  

TomoCredit, a 3.5-year-old, Bay Area-based consumer credit card company targeting immigrants and international students with no credit history in the U.S, has raised $122 million in equity and debt. Members of the investing syndicate included Morgan Stanley’s Next Level Fund, MasterCard, and Silicon Valley Bank (which provided the debt). Whatnot, a three-year-old, L.A.-based live-streaming shopping platform, has raised $260 million in Series D funding. DST Global and returning investor CapitalG co-led the round, joined by Bond and returning investors Andreessen Horowitz and YC Continuity. TechCrunch has more here.

Hashflow, a 1.5-year-old, San Francisco-based decentralized finance trading platform, has raised $25 million in Series A funding from a long list of investors. Among them was Jump Crypto, Wintermute, GSR, LedgerPrime, QCP, Altonomy, Dragonfly Capital, Electric Capital and the venture arms of both Coinbase and Kraken. CoinDesk has more here.

Normative, a 7.5-year-old, Lund, Sweden-based based carbon accounting startup, has raised 31 million euros ($31.5 million) in Series B funding from investors, including Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing’s Horizons Ventures, Blume Equity (which led the round) and earlier backers ETF Partners, 2150 and Future Five. TextExpander, a 17-year-old, San Francisco-based maker of text shortcut software (users insert text snippets in any application from a library of content that they themselves create), has raised $41.4 million in its first-ever outside funding round, courtesy of Summit Partners. valid8Me, a three-year-old, Cork, Ireland-based digital identity software-as-a-service platform, has raised €12.5 million ($12.72 million) in funding from Grant Thornton Ireland. Tech.eu has more here.

YourChoice, a four-year-old, Berkeley, Ca.-based male contraception company, has raised $15 million in Series A funding. Future Ventures led the round, joined by Refactor, Knollwood, North South Ventures, and RH Capital. Axios has more here.

Atlantic Money, a year-old, U.K.-based money transfer startup, has raised $3 million in seed funding led by Amplo, with participation from Nordstar and Martell Hardenberg. TechCrunch covered the company in March.

Natron Energy, a 10-year-old, Santa Clara-based maker of sodium-ion batteries, has raised $7 million in funding from Houston oil field equipment company Nabors Industries. More here.

Proteus Motion, a six-year-old, New York-based fitness tech company focused on measuring physical strength, has raised $8.5 million in Series A funding co-led by Acies Investment and HBSE Ventures, with participation from Harrison & Co., Monozukuri Ventures, and 412 Ventures. More here.

Boeing yesterday said it has agreed to provide $50 million to anchor a new aerospace technology venture fund that is privately managed by its partner AE Industrial Partners, a private equity firm. The new investment in AEI HorizonX will be put toward the venture platform’s second fund, which aims to raise $250 million to invest in startups in future mobility, space, sustainability, digital enterprise applications, networks and security. Fifth Wall, the six-year-old, L.A.-based venture firm, has raised $500 million for its first climate-related venture fund. CNBC has more here.

FirstMark Capital, the 14-year-old, New York-based venture firm, says it has raised $1.1 billion for its sixth flagship fund and fourth opportunity fund (without breaking out how much it raised for each). More here.

FrontEnd Ventures, a months-old, Kenya-based venture firm focused on supporting local teams, has raised $1 million of a $5 million target for first fund. TechCrunch has more here.

General Catalyst, the 22-year-old, Cambridge, New York, London and Bay Area-based venture firm, has raised $670 million for its second Health Assurance Fund. Forbes has more here.

Menlo Ventures, the 46-year-old Bay Area firm, has raised $761.4 million in capital commitments for its third "special opportunities" fund. It closed its second special opportunities fund in 2019 with $497 million in commitments. TechCrunch has more here.

Omead Afshar, one of Elon Musk’s top lieutenants and the executive running Teslas Texas factory, is under scrutiny in an internal investigation for his role in a plan to purchase hard-to-get glass, with investigators reportedly trying to determine whether the glass was for CEO Musk’s personal use (which would be a no-no). The crypto exchange Blockchain.com is letting go of roughly 150 employees, representing 25% of its workforce, reports Coindesk. In an email to the outlet, the company cited the harsh bear market conditions and its need to absorb financial losses. The exchange recently revealed it was dealing with a $270 million shortfall from lending to beleaguered hedge fund Three Arrows Capital. More here.

Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia today announced he’s stepping down from his position at the company he helped to launch over a decade ago. In a letter to employees also published to Airbnb’s corporate blog, Gebbia said he will remain on the board of directors but transition to an advisory role, supporting co-founders Brian Chesky and Nathan Blecharczyk on “the roadmap, future concepts, and [Airbnb’s] creative culture.” Gebbia was previously the chairman of Samara, Airbnb’s design studio, and of Airbnb.org, the company’s nonprofit foundation. Gebbia said his newest venture is parenthood but that he also has a brain “bursting with more ideas to bring into the world.” More here.

Investing powerhouse Andreessen Horowitz said today that its “headquarters will be in the cloud” going forward, via a blog post written by firm cofounder Ben Horowitz.
