This post will cover one micro opportunity and talk about multiple niches in this space. This post also explains how to do tech implementation, do market analysis, how the current players are doing, and ends with a cost analysis to understand the overall cost for 100 users.

This is Part 1 of ‘Building $1K - $10K MRR Micro SaaS products using AI’

Let’s see some of the products built on top of AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Zyro: Website builder with AI capabilities that automatically generates Logos, Business Names, Titles, Text-based on AI. The landing page builder comes with AI Logo Maker, AI Business Name generator, AI Heatmap, AI Content writer, and a lot of tools based on AI. Annual revenue for $4M.

Predis: Creating Fresh & Engaging content every day is a pain. Generate entire social media posts with creatives, captions, and hashtags using AI. The tool generates ready-made content based on AI. Made $42K in sales from Life Time Deals in less than 1 month.

TweetHunter: Your own personal AI-writing assistant. Daily AI-written tweets you can immediately publish. Currently at 20K MRR in less than a year.

Denigma: Denigma explains code in understandable English. Powered by machine learning and AI. You just connect your code and Denigma explains what the code does. The engine uses AI. Currently at $1K MRR in less than a year.

Postaga: Use AI to Automatically Generate Effective Outreach Campaigns. Postaga analyzes users’ sites to find high-converting campaign ideas based on AI. Recently raised $180K in funding.

Mathpix: Convert images and PDFs to LaTeX, DOCX, Overleaf, Markdown, Excel, ChemDraw, and more, with AI-powered document conversion technology. Founded in 2017, Mathpix grew to $3M in revenue per year.

Wix-ADI: Wix AI-based feature to generate websites based on AI technology. Wix Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) is the first-ever artificial intelligence that designs stunning sites.

Lately: Social Media writing software that runs on AI. Use AI to turn content into Social Media. The AI will transform all long-form content into dozens or even hundreds of social media posts that will get the highest engagement. The estimated revenue is $1.1M in 2021.

Negative Nancy says - It’s tough to implement AI-based solutions.

Me - Things moved so fast in the last couple of yours and today most of the AI solutions are available with plug and play by just making API calls.

Negative Nancy says - AI needs an infra setup and could be costly.

Me - Most cloud providers provide AI services as API calls and these are charged with the ‘pay-as-you-go’ model. There is no upfront cost you have to pay as most of these are charged based on usage/number of API calls.

Deep-dive & Some niches

• Website Builder with AI capabilities: Create a website builder that runs on AI to generate most of the elements and get the users up and running as fast as possible. When a new website is created, most of the users spend time creating logos, writing headlines, correcting images, etc. Create a tool around this that can do all these based on AI and attach this as an add-on to the Website builder. See Zyro for some inspiration. The landing page builder Zyro comes with AI Logo Maker, AI Business Name generator, AI Heatmap, AI Content writer, and a lot of tools based on AI. Annual revenue for $4M. To improve this model further, you can also automate A/B testing with a couple of variations and show the metrics to customers.

• Extract metadata from Images: An automated AI-based solution that can recognize the objects from an image. There is a lot of market around this and cloud APIs can detect the objects in the image (if an image has male, female, child, object, hill, cycle, mountain, etc), the mood of the objects in the image (if people are sad, happy, celebrating), dominating colors of the object and a lot of other data as well. If you are wondering how this looks like or how it would work, go to Google Vision cloud service (AI service from Google) and upload an image (requires no login and code to test) and see how it works. You can create a Micro-SaaS product around this functionality. There are various use cases for this - See how Amazon Rekognition can be used for workspaces safety. Also, see how you can use this for content moderation. This can be also used by e-commerce companies to extract the colors from the images and show related products on the e-commerce store.

• Convert Text to Speech: There are many times you need a convert a text into audio. This could be for easily consuming the content by the end-users. Or sometimes your customers may want to repurpose the content for various reasons to promote in multiple places. Create a Micro-SaaS product that takes the text and creates audio out of the text. Users should be able to select the kind of voice, accent, region, gender to render the voice bite. You can use AWS Polly to achieve this that comes with a huge set of voices that is a combination of genders/accents/locations. AWS Polly supports both Newscaster Speaking Style and Conversational Speaking Style. Similarly, you can use Google Cloud Translation to achieve this. There is no need for any infrastructure setup and works just on APIs with a pay-as-you-go model with no commitment.

• Generate Headlines - This is a massive opportunity and there are a few companies already leveraging GPT-3 for this. For example, Headlime is auto-generating the headlines that garner huge attention. These can be used either as headlines for blog posts, website titles, Reddit post titles, Indiehacker post titles, etc. See how Headlime is doing this here.

• Info Product on AI: The demand for AI is growing exponentially and everyone wants to learn AI-related tech stuff. While there is a lot of content available on the internet, creating a single info product that covers most of the stuff will generate good sales with the right audience. You can further niche down to various deeper niches like ‘Implementing AI solutions on AWS’, ‘Implementing AI solutions on GCP’ etc as well. Make sure to create a community around the same while you sell your Info product. Please provide community access to anyone purchasing the info product. (The possibility of joining a like-minded community increases the number of sales by giving more confidence). Don’t think too much about community-building tools. You can just use Telegram, Slack, or a Discord server to start with.

• Newsletter on AI-related stuff: As there is new stuff coming in every day around AI (and Machine Learning), create a newsletter and write to your users about various things around AWS. Once you have enough subscribers and if you think you are writing quality content that people find worth paying, you can introduce a Pro subscription and charge for the Pro access. Alternatively, you can also start looking for sponsors who want to publish ads in your newsletter. There is a great demand for tech subscribers and the content around AI is more related to tech, your audience will be tech-related and most companies would love to sponsor ads for tech audiences.
