What to expect from Apple’s iPhone 14 event (5 minute read)

Apple is expected to launch three new Apple Watch models and a refreshed pair of AirPods Pro earbuds along with its range of new iPhones. The launch event on September 7 will be a small in-person event that will be streamed online. It is rumored that iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will feature an upgraded A16 processing chip, an always-on display, a 48-megapixel rear camera with a larger sensor, and a camera cutout on the screen instead of a notch. Google Pixel sees huge sales growth, has 2% of North American market (2 minute read)

This article contains North American smartphone market share numbers from Canalys. Google's market share is up 230% this quarter from the last quarter. It now has 2% of the North American market share. Google is in fifth place, behind Apple, Samsung, Motorola, and TCL. The top five selling phones were all iPhones. Decreasing purchasing power is forcing buyers to look for cheaper options.

Tesla has released two new deep-dive presentations on its Dojo AI supercomputer ahead of its upcoming AI Day 2. Dojo is Tesla's custom supercomputer platform built to train AI using video data from its fleet of vehicles. It uses chips designed by Tesla and it is expected to elevate Tesla's capacity to train neural nets using video data. Tesla will likely give an update on its Dojo program at its AI Day 2 on September 30.

SpaceX and T-Mobile’s August 25th event could blend Starlink satellite internet and 5G (2 minute read)

SpaceX and T-Mobile are hosting an event on August 25 at SpaceX's Starbase launch site in South Texas. Elon Musk and T-Mobile's CEO Mike Sievert will be presenting at the event. Shuffles is an app from Pinterest that is climbing the App Store's Top Charts while still in an invite-only stage. The app allows users to build collages using Pinterest's photo library or by taking pictures. It has a feature similar to iOS 16's forthcoming image cutout feature that allows users to cut out objects from photos. Videos made with the app have been popular on TikTok.
